Support from donors helps Ripon maintain a 98% graduation outcomes rate and produce the highest earners in Wisconsin 10 years post-graduation.
Ripon College is doing something remarkable. We are delivering a private school education at a public school price. The average student in the Class of 2023 will contribute about $20,000 per year for the Ripon experience. That’s about the same as it costs to go to many schools in the University of Wisconsin system.
At Ripon, we are proud to provide 100 percent of our students with financial assistance. In other words, all of our students get scholarships. Some receive institutional awards for their academic excellence and others get help to alleviate the overall cost. Our mission to provide an accessible and premier liberal arts education is stronger than ever, even in the midst of an ever changing and challenging higher education landscape.
And how are we are able to do it? It is thanks to a community of alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends who love this place and are constantly thinking about its future. It is why we have an endowment approaching $100 million and Ripon Fund contributions that exceeded $2.6 million last year. It allows us to talk about new endowed chairs, excellence in teaching and students who publish papers with their professors. It is also why each year we introduce special campus programming, Career Discovery Tours and renovated classrooms and public spaces. New this fall, we’ll introduce the Franzen Center for Academic Success in the back of Lane Library, a brand-new, high-tech active learning lab in Farr Hall, and lighting, risers and other aesthetic enhancements to Benstead Theatre in C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts.
My wife and I are proud to give back to Ripon every year (and so are my parents). We endowed the Presidential Staff Awards which honor five college staff members for their excellent work every May at our Employee Recognition Breakfast. We also give to the Ripon Fund and a variety of other initiatives in the arts, sports and academic programs that enrich the campus. We do it for the same reason so many of you give back. We see how the College transforms lives, including ours. Ripon has given my family so many wonderful experiences over the past seven years along with memories that will last a lifetime.
Please join us and make your Ripon Fund gift today. Like many private liberal arts colleges across the country, we have our own challenges ahead. In order to remain an affordable option for students of the future, we will need the continued support of our community now more than ever. As summer turns to fall and students return to campus, I’d ask you to think about what Ripon means to you and how much we appreciate what you do for all of us who work and study at the College.
