During the last week of January, the College pays tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The celebration is marked by a series of thoughtful events and activities meant to encourage reflection and community-building. The week culminates in an annual MLK Awards Brunch, honoring members of the campus community who best emulate the ideals of Dr. King.

In honor of the late civil rights leader, Ripon has remodeled its Martin Luther King, Jr. room located adjacent to Great Hall in Harwood Memorial Union.

In addition, Ripon offers the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, a dedicated space where saliency in one’s identity will always be respected and where students will be able to find community building and congregation with peers of like or shared experience based on their cultural identity. Through innovative programming and a variety of resources we seek to create regular opportunities in this space for cross-cultural dialogue.

The College has also adjusted its academic calendar to ensure that there will no longer be classes held on the national holiday dedicated to Dr. King’s legacy.
