Library Database Browser Setting Instructions
To access Lane Library’s database selections via the search on the homepage of the library site, your browser settings have to be configured to allow pop-ups. The following are instructions on how to allow pop-ups in popular browsers. For mobile browser setting instructions, scroll to the bottom of this page.
Safari
- Open the browser
- Select “Safari” in the upper left-hand corner of the computer
- Select “Preferences”
- Select Security
- Uncheck the box that says to block pop-up windows
Explorer/Edge
Explorer/Edge may first give you the option to allow pop-ups from ripon.edu. If you see this message, select to always allow the pop-ups. This will allow you to skip the steps below.
- In the far right-hand corner of the browser window, select the menu button where settings are stored
- Select “Settings”
- Select “View Advanced Settings”
- Toggle the “Block Pop-ups” option to “off”
Firefox
Firefox may first give you the option to allow pop-ups from ripon.edu. If you see this message, select to allow the pop-ups. This will allow you to skip the steps below.
- In the far right-hand corner of the browser window, select the menu button where settings are stored
- Select “Options”
- Select “Privacy and Security”
- Find the option for “Block Pop-ups” and select “Manage Exceptions” to add ripon.edu or simply uncheck the “Block Pop-ups” option box
Chrome
This browser shouldn’t block pop-ups on the library site. If you are having issues, the following instructions can help you check whether or not pop-ups are blocked in your Chrome browser.
- In the far right-hand corner of the browser window, select the menu button where settings are stored
- Select “Settings”
- Select “Advanced” at the bottom of the page
- Select “Content Settings”
- Select “Pop-ups and Redirects”
- Find the option for “Allow” and select to add ripon.edu or simply toggle the “Blocked” option to the off position
Mobile Browsers
If you’re looking to search the database on mobile, you’ll have to go into your phone’s settings, find the browser app that you’re using, and allow pop-ups on that app. This will allow you to select a database and give it the ability to pop up.
