Director, Center for Career and Professional Development
Ripon College invites applications for a Director of the Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD). Reporting to the Vice President/Dean of Faculty, the Director is responsible for creating a professional environment where all Ripon College students demonstrate career- and/or graduate school-ready skills through high-impact programming, curriculum-based in-class learning, and experiential opportunities. This position works directly with employers, community partners, faculty, campus departments, and students to provide on- and off-campus experiences that are innovative and effective as part of Ripon College’s liberal arts curriculum.
The Director will be charged with designing and executing high-impact programming focusing on career readiness, to include workshops, speakers for on- and off-campus events, collaboration with other campus offices for targeted events, and career planning instruction in the college’s Catalyst general education classes and other courses. The position will strategize with external constituents and build ongoing relationships with community partners and employers, professional associations, and graduate school recruiters, as well as analyzing employment rates and student data to inform planning.
The Director will follow best practices in advising students in career planning. This includes assisting them in career development and planning, obtaining information on internships and opportunities for employment, providing resume and application review and mock interviews, and consultation on LinkedIn and Handshake. The Director will also supervise student workers in the CCPD’s welcoming collaborative space in Pickard Commons. Creating and maintaining college and student awareness of the CCPD will be a key responsibility, including managing a social media presence, representing the department and college at campus events, and overseeing the Handshake platform. The Director will assist in budget development, supervise expenditures, and maintain fiscal responsibility. Some travel and some work on nights and weekends will be required to meet the CCPD’s goals.
The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in higher education, human resources, or a related field, and five years of progressive experience working with employer partners. Knowledge and experience working directly with a diverse student population with supervisory experience is highly desired. Professional knowledge of employment trends, hiring practices, internship programs, business operations, career-readiness, and statistical compilation and data usage is preferred. Experience in designing innovative programs, developing proactive policy, and creating meaningful metrics for assessment will be considered ideal, as will the ability to collaborate to achieve mission-driven goals. GCDF certification a plus.
