Ripon College

Ripon College invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor beginning August 2019 to participate in integrated business management and economics programs.

A doctorate in a relevant field is preferred, but other terminal degrees (MBA, JD, MPA, etc.) or ABD or significant progress toward a doctorate will be considered if accompanied by significant business experience. Candidates with doctoral degrees in traditional liberal arts disciplines will be considered if the candidate’s area of research and teaching specialization is relevant to business: for example, a historian researching diversity in corporate leadership or a sociologist studying marketing.

A successful candidate will have the opportunity to design an introductory gateway course for the business management major. Additional preferred teaching areas include entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership; management in diverse societies and corporate social responsibility; marketing and consumer behavior; human resources management; business law; and a senior seminar. Letters of application should explain which of these areas are within the candidate’s competence; no single candidate is expected to cover all of them. A successful candidate will also contribute courses in the Catalyst core curriculum. The teaching load is three courses per semester; 92 percent of classes at Ripon have fewer than thirty students.

Ripon College provides a nationally recognized (Phi Beta Kappa), academically rigorous, and supportive learning environment characterized by a teaching faculty committed to individualized instruction and collaborative inquiry. Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence in a liberal arts setting, educating students of diverse backgrounds, and a promising research agenda. Ripon is a small and safe community a short drive from Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay, Wisconsin.

To apply, submit a cover letter addressing qualifications with a focus on teaching in a liberal arts college and contributing to an inclusive community; a curriculum vitae; contact information for three references; evidence of teaching effectiveness; and a recent sample of research or other professional writing with a statement of plans for professional and scholarly development. All materials must be submitted as PDF files, sent by email to [email protected]. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
