September 26, 2018 @ 7:30 pm

Dr. Larry Bowers, long time Chief Science Officer for the U. S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), is known at the USADA as having “played a significant role in the improved identification of performance-enhancing drugs and has supported numerous high-profile initiatives to help level the playing field in sport.”  His talk will weave a number of concepts together, including ethics, law, communication, science, mathematics, and the importance of the liberal arts, in order to show the comprehensive approaches needed to help “protect the rights and health of clean athletes around the world.”  Dr. Bowers will focus his talk on steroid detection, of which he has particular expertise from having worked on the BALCO scandal and other high profile cases.
