Financial Literacy & Intelligence Workshops
Student Support Services and the McNair Scholars Program is sponsoring a series of five consecutive weekly workshops on Financial Literacy and Intelligence. The workshops are facilitated by Jeff Kemp, an extremely knowledgeable speaker who has received numerous honors and awards for his work in volunteering in many Wisconsin schools and communities. Attendance at last year's workshops was consistently high with students and staff giving very high marks on the information presented in the workshops.
Kemp has received the Volunteer of the Year award from the City of Oshkosh and was one of only 300 people in the United States who was invited to attend the President's special day of recognition in Washington D.C. for individuals who dedicate their lives to volunteer efforts. Kemp also facilitates his own weekly TV program on personal finance. He has once again agreed to share his unique knowledge with the Ripon College community. Kemp takes no fees for his presentations and has no personal financial or vested interest in the information he imparts.
Kemp's typical class runs longer than five weeks so he has agreed to focus on some of the major components of his presentations:
- How can you establish a Lifetime Financial Plan
- Expenses in investing and the impact of compounding
- Managed Mutual funds and Index Funds and what the research says about these vehicles
- Economic forces that impact investments
- Summary and questions regarding Social Security and receiving objective information about financial information
Space is limited. Please contact the Office of Student Support Services if you are interested in participating.
