The 2014-2015 Ripon College Fine Arts Season, including events of the Caestecker Fine Arts Series and the Chamber Music and Jazz at Ripon Series, features an eclectic mix of student performances and well-known artists, and theatre, dance and music performers.

A special thanks to Ripon College Friends of the Arts members, who provide vital financial and volunteer support for fine arts programming and activities. Friends membership helps to bring outstanding performers, musicians and visual artists to the College. Chamber Music & Jazz at Ripon Series:

Lynn Post Northrop Memorial Concert

September 5, 2014

This is the first annual presentation of this concert to honor Northrop, a long-time supporter of the arts at Ripon, who died in April 2014. She was the wife of Douglas Northrop, Helen Swift Neilson Professor of Cultural Studies Emeritus. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts.

Fables & Apparitions: Paintings by Gina Litherland

Litherland combines elements of the natural world, fairytale and myth into her precious, minutely-wrought paintings. Her work will be on display Sept. 12-Oct. 5 in the Caestecker Art Gallery. Artist’s talk 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, in the Rodman Center lobby; opening reception follows.

The Theatre Department Presents David Auburn’s “Proof”

October 1-4, 2014
This play won a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award for best play. Smart and compassionate, it combines mystery and surprise with old-fashioned story telling.

Caestecker Fine Art Series:

Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Returns for a Free Public Concert

Sunday, October 5, 2014

Wisconsin’s largest cultural organization, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Francesco Lecce­Chong, conductor, returns to Ripon College for a free “thank you” performance Sunday, October 5 for its 42st appearance on campus. The concert will feature Jeanyi Kim, associate concertmaster, as soloist on violin.

The Caestecker Fine Arts Series is made possible by a generous endowment from Ripon College Honorary Life Trustee Thomas E. Caestecker of Kenilworth, Ill., and Green Lake, Wis. Caestecker has been a longtime benefactor of the College and also provided the gift to build the Caestecker Wing of the C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts.

Special reserved seating for Friends of the Arts members. A Friends reception follows in the Rodman Center lobby.

This Chicago-based brass trio is dedicated to expanding the boundaries of the brass trio repertoire, including new works, Georgian folk songs, music from the film “Alfie,” music of Astor Piazzolla and Erik Satie’s “Gymnopedie No. 1.”
