Our staff of 34 student resident assistants plan six individual floor programs per semester tailored to the unique needs of their residents, and accompany residents to a variety of other events organized by across campus.
Examples of past programs include social events like pizza parties, movie nights, birthday gatherings, stress relief and Ripon pride, or programs that touch on a variety of educational topics like safety, alcohol, sexual assault, eating disorders, women’s health, diversity and student success strategies.
Past floor programs include:
- Brain Food and its Academic Benefits
- Homemade Crafts and Headbands
- Diversity through themes learned in Remember the Titans
- Scheduling and Time Management
- In addition to those programs designed for each floor in the residence halls, the RA staff helps to plan all campus programs each semester.
Late night programming at Ripon College is sponsored by the Office of Residence Life and is known on campus as Ripon After Dark (RAD). Held Thursday, Friday or Saturday evenings after 9 p.m., RAD activities offer students fun opportunities to gain experiences in programming, leadership development and responsible social interaction.
What kinds of activities take place on these nights? You name it! We offer anything from games to arcade tournaments to movie nights to fun competitions. Past events have included karoke, grocery bingo, tie dye, poker tournaments, craft projects, video game competitions and life size game shows like Deal or No Deal.
How can you get involved? For most of these nights, there’s nothing to sign up for ahead of time – just look for on-campus announcements and show up to the designated campus location prepared to have fun! Most events allow you to win fun gifts, food or gift cards to local area businesses.
