Ripon College Podcasts are available in two file types: MP3 and AAC. The file sizes are almost identical, but some believe AAC files sound better. Either will play if burned to a CD, but for this short tutorial, we'll assume you a) don't care because it's just people talking and b) have burned music to a CD before. If you never have, you will know someone who can help you. If you don't have a CD-RW drive on your computer, that's sort of a deal-breaker, but you can always save the file and have a friend burn it for you.
To burn a CD, click the "Download MP3" link and choose "Save" (CTRL-click on a Mac to get this option). Save it wherever you'd like. CD-R discs can hold 650 or 700 MB of information, so you may want to put several podcasts on one disc. On the other hand, they're like $.25 each.
If you have a CD-RW drive, you'll either have a dedicated burning program like Roxio, or, more likely, your audio program (iTunes, Windows Media Player, etc.) will support burning. Once the file is saved, simply import it into your audio program, select it (or add it to a playlist) and find the "Burn" command. (NOTE: You always have to "close" your session before the CD will play on a standard CD player.
Ripon College is not responsible if the witty repartee or scholarly revelations of its podcasts cause you to drive off the road.
