According to the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, colleges
are required to comply with certain regulations in order to receive
government funds, including financial aid, National Science Foundation
grants, etc.
We must inform you of the following:
- Standards of conduct that clearly prohibit the unlawful possession,
use or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol on College property
or as part of the College’s
activities. College regulations which address these issues are
printed in the Student Handbook which is available online at www.ripon.edu/students/handbook.
- A description of the applicable legal sanctions under State
or Federal law for the unlawful possession or distribution of illicit
drugs and alcohol.
A copy of the Federal sanctions has been included with this notice
for your information.
- A description of the health risks associated with the use
of illicit drugs and abuse of alcohol.
The chart of risks presented in the Federal Registry has been included
with this notice for
your information.
- A description of any drug or alcohol counseling, treatment
or rehabilitation or re-entry programs that are available to students. Information abouy these topics is
available in the Student Handbook.
- The following is the Ripon College position on illicit drugs
and alcohol:
Ripon College will impose disciplinary sanctions on
students and employees (consistent with
local, state and federal law) for violations of the standards of
conduct. These sanctions are
identified in the Student Handbook and include the possibility
of suspension or dismissal from
the College or referral for prosecution. In addition, a disciplinary
sanction may include the
completion of an appropriate rehabilitation program. The College
reserves the right to notify
parents/guardians of students' alcohol policy violations.
