Ripon College is seeking applications for a Web Developer. Founded in 1851, Ripon College is an independent, residential, liberal arts college in Wisconsin with a history of commitment to excellence in undergraduate education.
The Web Developer position is a full-time, 12-month administrative position reporting to the Director of Information Technology Services. The Web Developer will lead the continued transformation of the college’s Web environment to advance the mission of Ripon College.
The incumbent will be required to work closely with various departments to:
- Develop, manage and maintain the college’s external and internal Web environments.
- Develop Web site visitation strategies and associated assessment metrics.
- Conduct needs assessments of business practices and propose Web-based solutions where appropriate.
- Translate business needs into technical design requirements and development timelines.
- Work, as a member of the technology team, to integrate hardware and software needs into the overall suite of technologies supported by ITS.
- Manage Web-based projects.
- Remain current with Web technologies and applications.
- Plan and review site architecture for new Web products, features and applications.
The successful candidate’s credentials will include:
- Working experience with Web standards, work-flow processes, technology trends, online marketing concepts and Web site design best practices.
- Intimate knowledge of Web site development employing languages such as HTML, XHTML, XML, PHP and Java.
- Strong working knowledge of CSS.
- Proficiency in identifying and solving cross-browser/platform compatibility issues.
- Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) and ColdFusion.
- Experience with Microsoft server technologies, specifically .NET.
- Experience with Adobe software product suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, etc.).
- Experience working with database publishing content management systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS).
- Project management experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft and Macintosh operating systems.
- Four to five years' experience in Web development.
A BA/BS degree is required. We seek applicants possessing strong communication skills; those with a background in higher education are especially encouraged to apply.
