Tenure-Track Position in Educational Studies

Department of Educational Studies

Position: Full-Time, Tenure Track Faculty Member

 

Start Date:  August 2009

 

The Position: The Ripon College Educational Studies Department is a teacher education program grounded in the liberal arts with a strong emphasis in the social foundations of education. The department’s curriculum is based on the belief that effective teaching is rooted in the philosophical search for truth and meaning- both informed and complicated by the fact that teaching and learning are practiced in different and changing social contexts. The effective teacher learns liberally and conveys that disposition to her/ his students.  To this end, we seek a colleague well versed in and able to teach a broad array of courses in the social foundations of education, including coursework in international education.  Candidates are also expected to teach methods coursework (middle/secondary and or social studies methods preferred), supervise field placements, and contribute to the general administration of the department. 

 

Qualifications:  Candidates should hold a terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in the social foundations of education or a related field.  ABD will be considered provided that the candidate earns the terminal degree by the start of employment.  A minimum of three years K-12 teaching experience is required, and ideal candidates will have significant international teaching and/or study experience.
