Associate Director of Athletics and Sports Marketing Internship

Ripon College seeks qualified applicants for the Associate Director of Athletics and Sports Marketing internship position. This position will provide an intern the opportunity to gain valuable experience in all aspects of college athletics administration along with the marketing of college sports programs. Under the guidance of the Athletic Director and the Sports Information Director, the Associate Director of Athletics and Sports Marketing will be assigned the following responsibilities during the 1½-year period:

  • Manage games by directing student assistants, welcoming and assisting game officials prior to and at the conclusion of assigned games.
  • Attend Midwest Conference meetings with the athletic director and the College’s female athletic representative.
  • Serve as athletic director’s liaison for the Student Athletes Advisory Committee by attending meetings and assisting with special projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial and budget reports required by the College’s business office.
  • Market Ripon College athletics by collaborating with the sports information director in preparing special releases and assisting the athletic director with planning special events at home athletic contests.
  • Work closely with the sports information director in special event planning and implementation (for example, homecoming)
  • Contribute to the marketing or branding of the College as a key element in the institution’s admission and fund-raising efforts by bringing a fresh perspective and helping to shape the College’s marketing plans and sharpening the focus on image-building efforts.

 

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, work experience in a related field, strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills. Proficient in Word, Excel, Adobe InDesign, Macromedia Contribute and Stat Crew. Valid driver’s license.

Salary/Benefits: $25,100 per year (prorated for second semester 2010 in addition to full salary for 2010/2011 academic year), professional development reimbursement up to $3,000/year, one week vacation, and 8 paid holidays/year. This position is made possible through the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority & Women’s Internship Grant Program.

Timeline: Applications review will begin Jan. 4, 2010, and will continue until the position is filled. The successful candidate will attend NCAA orientation training in Indianapolis in July 2010. Position term will be January through May 2010 and August 2010 through May 2011.
