Sue Schmidt currently serves on the Board of Trustees as a representative of the Alumni Board. She was nominated as one of the Alumni Trustees and will carry out a three year term. Sue has had the opportunity to experience the college from multiple perspectives and feels one of the biggest rewards of serving on the Board of Trustees is the ability to see the college through different eyes.
“I saw it as a student, member of the Alumni Board and now I see it as a Trustee,” she says. “At each level I can help the college in a way I couldn’t before.” As an Alumni Trustee, she feels her most valuable contribution is communicating the concerns of the Alumni Board to the other Trustees.
Sue acknowledges that she has many hobbies, notably, lending a hand to her son’s Boy Scout troop.
When reflecting on some of the upcoming challenges for Ripon College, she notes it will be important for the College to preserve its excellent level of education and expectations for students in a society where technology is developing exponentially.
As for the future, Sue says she is excited to witness the numerous changes the institution is undergoing and feels confident that Ripon will remain one of the best small schools in the nation.
