Ripon College alumnus William Jordan '69 says he joined the Board of Trustees because he feels his experience with academic affairs allow him to contribute a well-informed opinion to the Board.
“I think it is important to try to contribute to the College according to one’s particular abilities,” says Jordan.
He is currently a professor of history at Princeton University, which has made him extremely familiar with higher education in general and with faculty issues in particular. This is why he feels best suited to serve on the Board of Trustee’s committee on Academic Affairs.
“I hope I have been a good conduit to educational foundations, I hope that my service on the Board’s Committee on Academic Affairs, which oversees tenure decisions and sabbatical leaves, among other matters, has benefited from my experience at Princeton,” says Jordan.
William feels Ripon College’s professors are central to the success of the institution. He says the faculty must be nurtured if Ripon College is to enjoy a lively future in the coming years.
“My job, in part, as I see it, is to keep repeating that message and doing as much as possible to realize that goal."
