A service scholarship program that helps students develop as active, engaged citizens and future leaders of their communities.

The OCE supports faculty as they connect classroom learning with real needs in the community through service-learning, community-based research, practica and internships.

Policy Options Initiative


A national pilot Web site that connects citizens, nonprofits and governments with the information needed for better planning and decision-making.

Student-led Service Teams

Caring Companions Team


Projects include work with local seniors' groups, assisted-living facilities, the animal shelter and the Random Acts of Kindness Week.

Community Development Team


Works with community festivals, local chambers of commerce, SIFE, business development and nonprofit organizations; and sponsors the annual International Gift Market.

Education Team


Works with tutoring and mentoring programs in the local schools, B.R.A.V.E., Big Brothers Big Sisters and The Boys and Girls Club; and organizes the annual Think College Early program.

Sponsors blood drives on campus and works with Special Olympics, Relay For Life, Ripon Medical Center, hospice and respite care programs and other organizations.

Works with Habitat for Humanity, ADVOCAP Family Services and Friends Aware of Violent Relationships; and sponsors Repair Affair and Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.

Sponsors diversity-oriented discussion groups, works with the ADVOCAP English Language Learner programs and organizes the Interfaith Days of Youth Service.

Works with First Book, local public libraries, Ripon Reads and EvenStart Family Literacy programs; and sponsors the annual Literacy Week and TV Turn-Off Week.
