How do I change my e-mail and Mercury password?

You must change your password from a lab computer around campus.

PC:

• Type "CTRL" "ALT" "DEL", if the log-in screen is not present.
• Type your current username and password then select "Change Password"
• Insert Old Password and then New Password. Note: Your new Password should be no longer than 8 characters and contain alpha-numeric text. Then type the New Password again in the Confirm New Password box.
• Click OK

Mac:

• Go to the Apple/Chooser
• Highlight Appleshare, RC Admin and Mercury and click OK
• Type in Username & Password, then select Change Password
• Insert Old Password and then New Password. Note: Your new Password should be no longer than 8 characters and contain alpha-numeric text
• Click OK

What can I do to optimize the performance of my computer?

If your computer is running slow, ITS suggests the following:

• Download the latest Windows Updates(Critical) via the web: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
• Download the latest Office Updates via the web: http://office.microsoft.com/OfficeUpdate/default.aspx
  (Please note, you may need your original Office cd)
• Update your virus definition files
• Defrag your machine (most pc's come w/ disk defragmenter software)
• Install Ad-Aware 6.0, scan your system for unnecessary objects, and delete
