When the Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated upon re-entry of Earth's atmosphere in 2003, NASA immediately set out to discover the reason why. After laborious study, it was Tom Horvath '84 and his team of engineers who finally identified the cause. For his efforts, Horvath was honored recently. With the acquisition of the former Ripon public library building at the corner of Watson Street and East Fond du Lac Avenue, the College has a new presence in downtown Ripon. President David Joyce sees his new office -- along with that of the vice president and dean of faculty and the office of community engagement -- as the next logical step in solidifying Ripon's connection with the community.
