RIPON, Wis. – The 70-member Ripon College Symphonic Wind Ensemble will hold its annual fall performance 3:15 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4 in the Demmer Recital Hall of the college’s Rodman Center for the Arts.
“This year’s Wind Ensemble is the largest it’s been since the 70’s,” noted Kurt Dietrich, Wind Ensemble director. “Working with such a large number of students is a great pleasure, and it allows us to produce some wonderful and dramatic sounds.”
Pieces will include Samual Scheidt’s “Canonza Bergamasca”; two movements from Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem; “Foster’s America – Suite of Stephen Foster Songs for Concert Band” by David R. Gillingham, a composer originally from Rosendale, Wis.; and Frank Ticheli’s arrangement of “Amazing Grace.” Two band classics, Vincent Persichetti’s “Pageant” and Haydn Wood’s “Mannin Veen,” round out the program.
The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call (920) 748-8791.
