Ripon College Jazz Ensemble presents Dec. 7 concert

Dec. 6, 2007

RIPON, Wis. – Ripon College’s Jazz Ensemble will present a diverse musical mix at its Dec. 7 concert, 7:30 p.m. in the Rodman Center’s Demmer Recital Hall. Pieces will range from 1940s Duke Ellington to a couple of brand-new big-band works. Several numbers, however, will be associated with the "hard bop" school of jazz, in particular bluesy, fun tunes by the great jazz pianist/composer Horace Silver. A jazz combo will round out the program with a funky 70s throwback, Eddie Harris' "Cold Duck Time."

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call (920) 748-8791.
