Dedication of student apartments taking place Oct. 5

Oct. 1, 2007

RIPON, Wis. – A formal ceremony and brief presentations by college officials will punctuate the official dedication of Campus Apartments, the new student residence at Ripon College. The event will be held at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5 in front of the building near the corner of Woodside and Seward Streets.

Fifty-six upperclassmen already are calling the building home, which features 14 four-bedroom units and modern amenities including wireless Internet access. The 29,000-square-foot building is the first all-new, ground-up construction on campus since Rodman Center for the Arts in 1972.

The run of program will be as follows:

  • Welcoming remarks by President David C. Joyce
  • “From the Ground Up,” by Oscar C. Boldt, chairman of Boldt Construction of Appleton
  • “A Modern Old Building,” by Robert H. Young, professor of psychology and project director for campus improvements
  • “I Live Here,” by Lauren Nygren ’08, a business administration and communication major from Woodbury, Minn.
  • Ribbon cutting by President Joyce and Pamela Price Smith ’68, chair of the subcommittee on facilities and technology, Ripon College Board of Trustees

Light refreshments and a tour of the building will follow. The event is free and open to the public.
