|
April 13, 2007 RIPON, Wis. – The Ripon College Office of Community Engagement will host a community-wide benefit movie night and film-inspired silent auction beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at the Marcus Cinema in downtown Ripon. All proceeds benefit the Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of suffering children in the United States and abroad. Beginning at 6 p.m., the silent auction will showcase dozens of jewelry items crafted and designed by local jewelers, artisans, and Ripon College students, staff and alumni. Immediately thereafter, at 7 p.m., guests will have the unique opportunity to see the classic film "Breakfast at Tiffany's," starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, on the big screen. Hepburn, an Academy Award-winning actress and international movie star, began the Children's Fund in 1994 as part of a lifetime of passionate humanitarianism. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992 in recognition of her dedication and remarkable efforts in service. This special event is a celebration of her philanthropy and a showcase of the humanitarian endeavors that continue today in her honor. Space is limited, so guests are encouraged to reserve their tickets by calling the Ripon College Office of Community Engagement at (920) 748-8153. Tickets will be sold for a donation of $5.
