RIPON, Wis. – With the skyrocketing costs of energy on many people’s minds, the question of what comes next is more important than ever. This and many other issues will be the focus of the Ripon College Earth Day Symposium, 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday, April 22 in the Great Hall of Harwood Memorial Union.
The symposium will feature speakers recognized for their influential role in environmental issues and sustainability both regionally and nationally. Presenters will include Dave Newport, environmental director at the University of Colorado at Boulder, whose keynote will discuss sustainability as it relates to institutions of higher education; Stan Gruszynski, a senior board member with the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters and director of the Global Environmental Management Education Center at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, who will explain legislating for sustainability; and Chamomile Nusz, executive director of the Citizen’s Energy Cooperative (CEC), who will share her perspective on the feasibility of renewable energy and how the CEC works.
This free public event is sponsored by the Environmental Group of Ripon and the Ethical Leadership program.
