Ripon College Student Clubs To Host Youth Activities at Ripon Public Library Throughout April

April 3, 2007

RIPON, Wis. – Various Ripon College student clubs will host a series of fun and interactive activites for children in grades 2-6 throughout April at the Ripon Public Library. The series is co-sponsored by the Ripon College Office of Community Engagement.

In celebration of diversity and culture, the Flying Hands Sign Language Club, the Fuerza Alliance Latin American Culture Club, and the People’s Club of China will each host an evening of events in the lower level of the Ripon Public Library, 120 Jefferson Street.

The Flying Hands Sign Language Club will host the first event in the series 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5. Participants will learn how to sign their names and a number of fun phrases.

The second event, hosted by the Latin American Fuerza Alliance, will take place 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12. Participants will have the opportunity to learn popular words and phrases in Spanish and will get the chance to play traditional Spanish games.

To wrap up the month of cultural and diversity activities, the People’s Club of China will teach participants about Chinese culture and share traditional Chinese games from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17.

The Office of Community Engagement’s Education Team, dedicated to promoting the aspirations of K-12 students, organized this cultural series. They, along with the Ripon Public Library, invite all children grades 2-6 and their families to celebrate diversity and culture throughout the month of April.
