Library Card
To borrow materials from the library, you need to be
registered in the library's computer system and have a library barcode.
Ripon students, faculty, administrators and staff are registered
automatically, and new students may pick up their library barcode at the Circulation
Desk.
Loan Period: Students
Books from the general collection are due on
approximately the last day of classes of the current semester, regardless of the date of checkout. Video items may be checked out for seven days. Reserve items have a 2-hour to 3-day checkout period, depending on the item.
Loan Period: Faculty and Staff
Books from the general collection are due the last day of the spring semester classes. Video items may be checked out for seven days. Reserve items have a 2-hour to 3-day checkout period, depending on the item.
Overdue
Items are stamped with a due date at checkout. Please
be courteous and either renew or return an item by the due date.
If the item is not returned within 21 days, a bill
for the item is generated. This bill includes a billing fee of $10.00,
the price of each item (usually $50), plus a $15.00 processing fee per item. The processing fees remains even
if the overdue item(s) are returned. Overdue charges affect student
standing with the Registrar's Office.
Responsibility for Overdue Items
Any items checked out in your name
become your sole responsibility. If you make the choice to loan them
to others, those items are still your responsibility. You will be billed
for any processing and billing fees, and/or replacement
cost per item, should they not be returned. We do not, under any
circumstances, transfer charges from one patron to another.
Renewing Books
Renewals are permitted for renewable items that do
not have a hold placed on them. General collection items (primarily
books) may be renewed one of four convenient ways:
- On our webpage before the item is overdue by selecting "VIEW your patron
record" on the ROSLIN main menu, then follow the instructions
- In
person at the Circulation Desk
- By phone to the Circulation Desk
- (920) 748-8175 (or x175 on campus)
- By e-mail to AskRef@ripon.edu
Holds/Recalls
After two weeks, the library reserves the right to
recall books to the library for use by other patrons. Requests to
have a book recalled or to put a hold on a book may be made at the
Circulation Desk, or a patron with a valid library card may issue
an electronic recall through ROSLIN. *Two weeks after notification
of a recall, a recall fine of $5.00 per day per item begins to accrue.
No patron is exempt from recall fines.
Reserve
Books and articles put on reserve by the faculty for student
use are available at the Circulation Desk. Lists of reserve items
appear in ROSLIN. A student should know the course number and the
instructor's name to facilitate requests for reserve materials.
Most materials are available for two-hour, in-library use only;
however, some materials are available for longer periods. Renewals
are also available on some items. Fines are also charged for overdue reserve materials.
