General Collection
(Stacks): The
library’s main circulating collection has scholarly materials
for every discipline and in a variety of languages. Located on
floors 2A, 1 and 2 and available for checkout.
Reference
Collection:
Includes materials such as encyclopedias, dictionaries,
almanacs and handbooks. These items generally include
background information on a topic, short synopses of
information, tables, graphs and statistics. Located on Floor
3A and not available for checkout.
Juvenile
Collection: The
library actively collects winners of the Caldecott, Newberry
and other children’s literature awards to support Ripon
College’s childhood education and development courses. Located
in the South Reading Room and available for checkout.
Video Collection:
The core of this collection centers around International
Films, but other film types are also available. Video material
is in either DVD or VHS formats. Located in the South Reading
Room and available for checkout. (For films of a more popular
nature, please visit the Ripon Public Library.)
Western Americana
Collection: The
Dale L. Morgan Memorial Collection of Western Americana was
donated by Mr. Todd Berens. The circulating part of this
collection focuses on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Located
in the North Reading Room. A large part of this collection has
not yet been added to our Online Catalog and is still
non-circulating. You may access this collection through a card
catalog, which uses the Dewey Decimal call number system.
Topics included in this portion are: the fur trade, mining,
the Mormons of Utah, Gold Rush narratives, overland journey
narratives, the exploration of the West, the transcontinental
railroad, and other related topics. Located in the North
Reading Room. Ask at the Circulation Desk for current checkout
availability.
Alumni and
Faculty Collections:
Books and other materials authored by Ripon College alumni and
former and current faculty. Located in the North Reading Room
and not available for checkout.
Closed Stacks:
Rare and fragile editions of books and other documents.
Highlights include books related to local and American
history. Ask at the circulation desk for access to items from
the collection. Items must be used in the library.
Periodical
Collection: The
library subscribes to a variety of popular and scholarly
journals, magazines and newspapers to serve the research needs
of the college. Older years are kept in either paper bound
periodical form or microform. Bound periodicals and current
issues are located on floor 1A. Microform periodicals are
located in the reference area of floor 3A. Periodicals are not
available for checkout.
Federal Documents
Collection:
Includes government information in a variety of formats from
nearly all federal agencies. Located in the reference area on
floor 3A. Please see a librarian to check out materials.
Wisconsin
Documents Collection:
Includes government documents on a variety of relevant topics
including statistics and environmental issues from Wisconsin
agencies. Located in the reference area on floor 3A.
