Resources on military history related to Ripon College, including the history of the ROTC unit at Ripon and alumni serving in wartime, can be found in the ROTC department. The following archival materials may also be helpful.
In 1995 Faith and Courage: A History of the ROTC 1919-1991, Ripon College, was written and edited by students under the guidance of Prof. William Woolley and Loren Boone, Director of College Relations.
There are several general history books in Room 412 of the Archives, such as the Pedrick history of Ripon and the history of Ripon College by Robert Ashley and George Miller, which contain useful information for researching the military and the Ripon campus.
The College Days is indexed through 1966 and is a good source of historical summaries, pictures, and items about specific events, people, and years. The College Days is located in the Archives in the locked storeroom. The indexes to the College Days are located in Room 412, along with microfilm of most issues from the beginning to the early 1990s.
The Ripon Alumnus contains a number of articles on both ROTC and experiences in World War I and II and Korea. A list of issues and main articles is available in a computer database for the Ripon Alumnus.
The Crimson, the student annual, is a good source of material and photographs on student activities that relate to ROTC and the military experience as it affected student life. It chronicles student clubs such as the Rifle Club and reflects the impact of World War II and other military events on Ripon students.
The Ripon College Catalog contains summaries for most years of programs that were available at the College and affords an historical survey of the role of the military and ROTC at Ripon.
