Arrangement: Subject, according to original order of Evans' files, apparently. 

Dates covered: 1907-1959, with the bulk of the material 1917 -1939.

Creator: Silas Evans was a Ripon College graduate, class of 1898, and the fifth president of Ripon College, serving from 1910-1917 and again from 1921-1943. His second term was the longest consecutive term of a president of the College and the identity of the College was very much shaped by his presence.

Source: Sometime prior to 1986, the Silas Evans' papers were returned to Ripon College by the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, as being more appropriate for our collection than theirs.  The Silas Evans Collection is available for research by faculty, students or other interested parties.
