{ World War II }

Ripon College saw massive changes within its campus, as well as the student body during the 1940's. From the start and end of World War II, Ripon experienced fluctuations in enrolment. As the government sought more men, many Ripon women found themselves in the majority. Such fluctuations in enrolment caused many fraternities, sororities, and student organizations to disband. However, due to societal wartime changes, new organizations concerned themselves with more global issues, as well as Post War ideology. Ripon Students balanced their duty to the United States with the importance of a liberal arts education. In the end of the era, Ripon College's enrolment stabilized--even increased--as Veterans saw a brighter future. In working with the community of Ripon, the campus became a microcosm for the entire country.
