Position Description:  Racial and Cultural Diversity Internship

The Racial and Cultural Diversity Internship is primarily responsible for advocating for students from minority racial and cultural backgrounds at Ripon College.  This includes, but is not limited to, planning campus programming, managing social media, and coordinating with other leaders. Job duties include Assist with the planning of racial and cultural diversity programming including, but not limited to, Social Justice Week, Social Justice Retreat, and “Movie Mondays” discussion; Manage diversity-related social media, including weekly posts on the SAO tumblr blog, a weekly newsletter for what’s going on around campus regarding diversity, and/or a new twitter handle promoting diverse events and awareness of relevant topics/issues locally and nationally; Collaborate with LGBTQ Diversity Intern on development and administration of a campus climate survey; Coordinate monthly dinners with leadership of cultural organizations; Participate in diversity leadership roundtable; Serve as a liaison between the student body and staff

Specialized Skills:

  • Interest in racial and cultural diversity issues; Great program planning and coordination skills; Knowledge of relevant social media; Ability to work with a diverse group of people; Ability to communicate well to fellow students
