Director of Sustainability

Ripon College invites applications for a Director of Sustainability. This position, funded by a three year grant from the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation, will support faculty, staff, and students as Ripon College extends sustainability education across the curriculum and into the community. The Director will coordinate and grow campus sustainability initiatives, support faculty infusing sustainability-related themes across the curriculum, deepen connections with local and regional partners involved in sustainability programs, establish experiential learning opportunities for students, and teach two academic courses on sustainability topics each year. The appointment may begin as early as January 2018, though the start date is flexible.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the skills and experience necessary to work effectively with faculty on developing sustainability curricula and initiatives within an academic context, an interest in working across multiple disciplines, and the capacity to develop experiential learning opportunities for students. A proven record of success in developing and sustaining community engagement is desired, particularly experience with community partnerships, student placements, or work with governments and non-profits.

A terminal degree in a sustainability-related field is preferred; an earned master’s degree is the minimum qualification required. While field of expertise in sustainability is open, expertise on environmental issues is preferred.
