US Foreign Aid: Does It Really Work?

Rick Scott (’70), a foreign service officer for many years who worked for the US Agency for International Development (USAID and also for the UN and various NGOs, will address the issue of whether foreign aid really works. He will draw on his own experiences in administering aid programs in Bangladesh, India, Haiti, Morocco, Afghanistan, Russia, Palestine, Ethiopia, Liberia, Timor Leste, Afghanistan and in Sierra Leone where he lived for a year. He will address the issue of what happens if the foreign aid budget is significantly cut back as has been proposed by the current administration.
