Residence Life Programming

Our staff of 34 student resident assistants accompany residents to activities organized by other organizations on campus and plan six individual floor programs tailored to the unique needs of their residents each semester.

Fear Factor ContestSome of their programs include social events such as pizza parties, movie nights, birthday gatherings, stress relief, Ripon pride, etc., or programs that touch on a variety of educational topics such as safety, alcohol, sexual assault, eating disorders, women’s health, diversity, and student success strategies.

Examples of past floor programs include:

  • Brain Food and its Academic Benefits
  • Homemade Crafts and Headbands
  • Diversity through themes learned in Remember the Titans
  • Scheduling and Time Management

In addition to those programs designed for each floor in the residence halls, the RA staff helps to plan all campus programs each semester.

Ripon After Dark

Newspaper Clothing Contest

Late night programming at Ripon College is sponsored by the Office of Residence Life and is known on campus as Ripon After Dark (RAD). RAD is a series of fun, late-night activities and events for RC students on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday nights after 9 p.m. RAD provides an opportunity for students to gain experiences in programming, leadership development, and responsible social interaction.

What kinds of activities take place on these nights? You name it! We offer anything from games to arcade tournaments to movie nights to fun competitions. Past events have included karoke, grocery bingo, tie dye, poker tournaments, craft projects, video game competitions, and life size game shows like Deal or No Deal.

How can I get involved? For most of these nights, there’s nothing to sign up for ahead of time – just look for on-campus announcements, and show up to the designated campus location prepared to have fun! Most events allow you to win fun gifts, food, or gift cards to local area businesses. For more information on RAD events, please contact the Office of Residence Life at 920-748-8186.
