UW-Madison poet will read from his work Wednesday

Poet Amaud Jamaul Johnson will read from his work from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14. The reading will take place in the North Reading Room of Lane Library. All are welcome to attend.

Johnson teaches in the MFA Program in Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and directs the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing. He is a native of Compton, California, and was educated at Howard University and Cornell University.

He has published two poetry collections, Darktown Follies (Tupelo 2013) and Red Summer (2006). A former Wallace Stegner Fellow in Poetry at Stanford University, Robert Frost Fellow at the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and Cave Canem Fellow, his honors include a Pushcart Prize, the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award, the Edna Meudt Book Award and the Dorset Prize.

His work has appeared in Best American Poetry 2014, The Southern Review, Crazyhorse, Narrative Magazine and elsewhere.
