Seniors in the community invited to add their memories to Ripon College project
Seniors from the community have one last chance to participate in a ceramic tiles project to enhance the new Ripon Senior Activity Center in Murray Park. Students from the ceramics classes of Professor of Art Mollie Oblinger at Ripon College have been collaborating with seniors from the community since last fall to create ceramic tiles for the project. Seniors are contributing stories of special memories of their times spent in parks and also have helped to create the tiles.
The last workshop where seniors can contribute memories or help in creating the tiles will be held from 2:30-4 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, in the ceramics studio of C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts at Ripon College. Signs will be posted to direct visitors.
Those who are unable to attend but want to contribute written memories can send them to Oblinger at [email protected].
The tiles will be glazed starting April 18, and they eventually will be combined for a mosaic to be displayed in the activity center.
Oblinger says the College is working to develop more opportunities for seniors and students to interact and share stories.
