Schatzinger examines “Walk-o-meter” on Inauguration Day

Assistant Professor of Politics and Government Henrik Schatzinger was quoted in a Politifact article examining the outlook of Governor Scott Walker’s second term.

According to Schatzinger, despite the fact that Walker’s party gained seats in both the Republican-controlled Assembly and the Senate some challenges and “tough choices” remain for the second-term governor of Wisconsin.

“Walker’s nascent presidential campaign could prove distracting, and opposition could develop in the bureaucracy to Walker’s plans to consolidate state agencies, Schatzinger said. Tensions could arise within the GOP over how to close a projected budget shortfall and on which taxes to reduce…”

Schatzinger’s comments come as Governor Walker was inaugurated for his second term Monday, January 5, 2015.
