Native American teachings as a path to peace
Sammy Rangel will present a talk, “Native American Teachings as a Path to Peace,” Dec. 2 at Ripon College. The talk will begin at 7 p.m. in Bear Auditorium, Farr Hall of Science. It is free and open to the public.
Incarcerated for more than 15 years, Rangel found his own path to peace and freedom when he began studying Native American traditions. Today, he helps other people seeking to break away from criminal lifestyles. He has worked with schools, community agencies and prisons around the nation, and was one of the select group of international experts convened in Dublin in 2011 for Google Idea’s Summit Against Violent Extremism.
Rangel is the founder of Formers Anonymous, an innovative program that helps people overcome their “addiction to street life.”
