Symphonic Wind Ensemble to Perform Nov. 23

The Ripon College Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Professor Kurt Dietrich, will present its fall concert at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts, on the campus. Kurt Dietrich, professor of music and Barbara Badlwin De Frees Chair in the Performing Arts, is the conductor.

HIghlighted on the program will be two major works, Gustav Holst’s Second Suite in F and Mark Camphouse’s Symphonic Prelude (“The Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer”). The Holst suite, written in 1922, is one of the most beloved works in band repertoire. Contemporary American composer Camphouse wrote his piece after visiting the cemetery in France where many of the casualties from the D-Day invasion are buried.
