Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Makes $100,000 Grant

Imagine Tomorrow CampaignRipon College has received a three-year, $100,000 presidential leadership program grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation’s Liberal Arts Colleges Program to support arts, humanities and human sciences initiatives important to the campus community.

The Liberal Arts Colleges Program regards the humanities, arts, and “humanistic” social sciences as its primary domain of interest. Fundamental among the criteria considered for awarding grants is a preponderant institutional commitment to a broad liberal education.

Ripon College was among just 70 liberal arts colleges determined eligible based on a set of criteria to seek a direct grant from the Foundation’s Liberal Arts Colleges Program for either faculty career enhancement, libraries and information technology, curricular development and educational effectiveness or presidential support.

Ripon’s grant can be used to support any of the following presidential efforts: articulate an institutional vision or strategy for development, make and carry out plans for academic renewal, foster a sense of community on campus, promote productive town-gown relations, and form constructive alliances with sister institutions.
