Ripon College Receives $120,000 Gift from Suzanne & Richard Pieper Family Foundation

Imagine Tomorrow CampaignThe Suzanne & Richard Pieper Family Foundation has gifted Ripon College $120,008 to support ongoing efforts to prepare students to become ethical and values-based leaders, who lift up society, enrich organizations and communities, and have a positive effect on the least privileged.

The gift is in addition to a generous $1,000,000 endowment received from the Pieper Family Foundation in 2011 that established a Ripon College Pieper Family Foundation Chair in Servant-Leadership, currently held by religion instructor David William Scott. In this role, Scott is focused on preparing future leaders in their chosen fields to be of service to others throughout their lives by teaching and exemplifying character and moral values. The additional money will go to support and advance ongoing activities, research and programming associated with the chair in servant-leadership and the College’s new Center for Social Responsibility.

In May, Ripon College announced the creation of the Center for Social Responsibility, effectively combining the best of existing programming and formalizing the curricular role of community engagement, service learning, social entrepreneurship and interdisciplinary studies in the development of ethical, sustainable and socially responsible leaders. Along with the new Center, the faculty of the College approved an innovative new minor in socially responsible leadership with two emphases: social entrepreneurship and innovation, and community engagement and service learning.
