Author Robin Hemley to Speak
Award-winning author Robin Hemley will read from his fiction Tuesday, April 3, on the Ripon College campus. The presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Room of Pickard Commons.
Hemley is the winner of the 2012 Pushcart Prize and a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2008. He has written 11 books of fiction and nonfiction, is the senior editor of the Iowa Review and the director of the University of Iowa’s Nonfiction Writing Program. His most recent work is a collection of short fiction, “Reply All: Stories.”
“I was a very good liar as a kid,” Hemley told Indiana University Press after the release of the collection, “and I think that one of the best training grounds I had for being a short story writer was that I could lie so well with such a straight face.”
The event is sponsored by the Ripon College Reading Series with assistance from the Schang Family Visiting Writer’s Fund.
