Celebrated author Edward Falco to read at Ripon College

Celebrated novelist Edward Falco will give a reading at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, on the Ripon College campus. The free presentation will be in the Heritage Room of Pickard Commons. A reception and book-signing will follow.

Falco was featured on The New York Times bestseller list for his most recent novel, “The Family Corleone.” This book is the latest installment in the celebrated “Godfather” series and is based on material excerpted from screenplays by Mario Puzo. It has received glowing reviews and been featured on National Public Radio, CNN, and “USA Today.”

Other works of fiction by Falco include the short story collections “Burning Man,” “Sabbath Night in the Church of the Piranha: New and Selected Stories,” “Acid” and “Plato at Scratch Daniel’s.”  His novels include “Saint John of the Five Boroughs,” “A Dream with Demons” and “Winter in Florida.”  He also has written experimental hypertext fiction and numerous plays.

A New York native, Falco teaches English and directs the master of fine arts program in creative writing at Virginia Tech, where he also edits “The New River,” an online journal of new media writing.

Falco also is the uncle of Edie Falco, who stars in the television series “Nurse Jackie” and as Carmella Soprano in the HBO series “The Sopranos.”

Falco’s visit is sponsored by the Ripon College Visiting Writers Series, with assistance from the Schang Family Visiting Writer Fund.
