Ripon’s comprehensive campaign surpasses $25 million

With its public phase and final goal still to come, Ripon’s comprehensive campaign has passed the $25 million mark. The milestone was reached through recent leadership gifts from Georgene Koblenz ’60, Bob and Patty (Parker) Francis, Joann Selleck ’73, and Rich (’73) and Ginny Srednicki, along with exceptionally strong support from numerous alumni, parents, friends and foundations.

“The campaign’s early and continued momentum tells us that people are enthusiastic about the College’s mission and where we’re headed,” said Wayne Webster, vice president for advancement. “A strong endowment helps keep Ripon affordable and accessible, expands student/faculty research opportunities, and supports our ability to provide a first-tier liberal arts and sciences education. This is a great start.”

The campaign began in July 2010, with a focus on growing the College’s endowment, upgrading facilities to provide the best learning environment available, and to provide continued annual support. Endowment proceeds support student aid, faculty and staff salaries, faculty development, capital improvements and much more. The endowment currently sits at $62 million, an all-time high. The final goal (total dollars raised through the campaign) will be determined just prior to the launch of its formal, public phase during the next academic year.

Ripon’s interim president, Jerry Seaman, underscored the endowment’s impact on the College’s reputation for academic excellence. The College has hired a number of new faculty members in recent years and has upgraded its classroom and lab technologies, but Seaman stresses there is more to be done.

“Ripon has a well-deserved reputation for academic rigor and for the quality of its learning environment. It’s vital that we continue to invest in our programs, facilities, as well as our faculty and staff, for the benefit of our students and their future,” he said.
