STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Red Hawks took on a pair of teams from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday at UW-Stevens Point, first going up against UW-Stout, before facing the Pointers. Ripon finished each match with the same result, a 9-0 defeat.
In their first match of the day, UW-Stout won all three doubles matches, with the closest call coming in number one play, where Allie Hinman and Amanda O'Keefe defeated Ripon's Josie Ullsperger and Chelsey Foster 8-4. In singles play, every match ended in two sets, except the number three match between O'Keefe and Arielle Denis. Denis nearly got a team point for the Red Hawks, losing the third and final set 10-7.
Against UW-Stevens Point later in the afternoon, Ripon again lost all three doubles match, with Megan Sockness and Brooke Deans coming the closest to scoring a point for the Red Hawks. That duo lost 8-3 in number three play. In singles action, each match was decided in two sets. Senior Erin Gebhardt nearly won her match in number five play, falling to Kaitlyn King 3-6, 6-7 (6-8).
The Red Hawks will wrap up regular season play on Thursday, with their final Midwest Conference match of the year. That match will begin at 4 p.m. in Appleton.
