RIPON, Wis. - Tuesday, the Red Hawks received their final tune up before conference play begins. They squared off with UW-Oshkosh in hopes of pulling the upset on the Titans. Things didn't turn out the way Ripon had hoped, as they would go on to lose 8-1, with their only win coming in singles competition.
The Titans swept doubles play, with all three of their duos winning. Ripon's teams of Kristine Jansen/Megan Petri and Megan Sockness/Brooke Deans were each able to salvage a game in their respective matches, but couldn't hold on for the victory.
In singles play, UW-O won the first two matches in two sets, but were challenged at number three singles. Arielle Denis earned the only point of the day for the Red Hawks by winning her match against Kate Broerman 6-2, 6-4. The Titans would go on to win the next three singles matches, but were challenged again in number five singles when Alecia Kiszonas took Stacie Stoffregan to the limit, losing in three sets.
Ripon won't have much time to rest, as they'll host Beloit College on Wednesday in their first conference match of the season. That match will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Larson Courts.
