RIPON, Wis. - The Red Hawks opened up their conference season Thursday by losing 7-2 against Beloit College. That score was much closer than first glance would indicate. Each of the final singles matches were decided by tiebreaker, as was the number three doubles match. In the end, the bounces just didn't go the Red Hawks way, dropping their season record to 1-3.
Arielle Denis continued her winning ways improving her individual season record to 3-1, playing at number three singles. That was the only win in singles play for the Red Hawks. In number four singles, Beloit's Julia Win defeated Erin Gebhardt in a tiebreaker. That match was followed by two more nail biters, as Alecia Kiszonas and Kate Dricken lost number five and six singles, respectively, in a tie breaker. The Red Hawk's only other point of the match came in number three doubles, where Megan Sockness and Brooke Deans defeated Win and Lily Rubenstein 9-8 (7-5).
Ripon won't have much time to rest, as they'll get back on the court on Friday, when UW-River Falls will pay the Red Hawks a visit. That match is slated to start at 3:00 p.m.
