Doubles Play Dooms Red Hawks

September 22, 2007

Box Score

FITCHBURG, Wis. - Ripon traveled to Edgewood Saturday for a non-conference match against the Eagles. The Red Hawks played Edgewood even in singles competition, with each team winning three matches. Ripon didn't fare as well in doubles play however, dropping all three matches, en route to a 6-3 loss to the Eagles.

Edgewood (7-4) won the first two singles matches, before Ripon's Arielle Denis came through with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Katie Schneider. After another Edgewood victory in number four singles, the Red Hawks (3-6) won the number five and six matches, as Alecia Kiszonas and Kate Dricken defeated their respective opponents.

Doubles play wasn't as easy for the Red Hawks. Kara Wagner and Meagan Sykes lost 8-1 in number one doubles. Kristine Jansen and Chelsey Foster then lost by the same score in number two doubles. Number three doubles was a little more competitive, but resulted the same way. Ripon's Megan Sockness and Brooke Deans dropped the third and final doubles match by the score of 8-4.

Ripon will take to the court again tomorrow for their third straight day of action. They will travel to Carroll College for a match against the Pioneers. That match is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
