GALESBURG, Ill. - After losing to Monmouth Friday afternoon, the
Red Hawks didn't have much time to recover before they were in
action again. Ripon squared off with Knox College Saturday morning,
just 14 hours after losing to Monmouth. Unfortunately for the Red
Hawks, they received the same result, losing the match
6-3.
The Red Hawks started the day off right with Jamie Lichon winning
her number one singles match, defeating Kristin Miller 6-2, 6-1.
In number two singles, Knox's Alexa Hagen defeated Mara Evans 7-5,
6-3 in a tightly contested match. Ripon earned another point in
number three singles, as Arielle Denis defeated Kendra Wright 3-6,
7-5, 10-4. After that, Knox was able to defeat the Red Hawks in
number four, five, and six singles.
In doubles competition, Lichon came out on the winning end of
things once again, teaming with Wagner to defeat Miller and Monyca
Fisher 8-5. Number two doubles saw Knox's Karen Russel and Wright
defeat Ripon's Evans and Meagan Sykes
8-5. The day was rounded out when Kourtney Cone and Ashleigh Honaker
defeated Ripon's Erin Gebhardt and Kristine Jansen 9-7.
Ripon will look to snap their seven game losing streak on Wednesday,
when they host Carroll College in their first conference match
of the season. That match will begin at 3:30 p.m.
