October 15 , 2006

MADISON, Wis. - Ripon finished up their season over the weekend, as they took part in the Midwest Conference Championships. Doubles play took place on Saturday, while singles were in action on Sunday. The Red Hawks finished ninth overall in the team standings, finishing with 10 points, just three behind Knox College.

In number one doubles, Ripon's Jamie Lichon and Kara Wagner put up a fight, but lost to Carroll's Hana Poser and Emily Linse 6-3, 3-6, 6-0. In number two doubles, Carroll again got the best of the Red Hawks, as Casey Anderson and Megan Lightfoot defeated Mara Evans and Megan Petri 6-1, 6-1. Ripon didn't fare much better in number three doubles, as Kristine Jansen and Chelsey Foster lost to Knox's Jessica Wise and Ashleigh Honaker 6-1, 6-4.

The Red Hawks experienced a little more success in singles competition. Number four player Wagner won her match over Illinois College's Michelle Koretke, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. Wagner would then go on to lose in the next round, 0-6, 2-6 to Lake Forest's Kendal Wapotish. One highlight of the weekend for the Red Hawks came in number six singles as Kate Dricken made it all the way to the championship of the consolation bracket, only to lose 10-3 to Lake Forest's Anna Mahar.
