MADISON, Wis. - Ripon finished up their season over the weekend,
as they took part in the Midwest Conference Championships. Doubles
play took place on Saturday, while singles were in action on Sunday.
The Red Hawks finished ninth overall in the team standings, finishing
with 10 points, just three behind Knox College.
In number one doubles, Ripon's Jamie Lichon and Kara Wagner put
up a fight, but lost to Carroll's Hana Poser and Emily Linse 6-3,
3-6, 6-0. In number two doubles, Carroll again got the best of
the Red Hawks, as Casey Anderson and Megan Lightfoot defeated Mara
Evans and Megan Petri 6-1, 6-1. Ripon didn't fare much better in
number three doubles, as Kristine Jansen and Chelsey Foster lost
to Knox's Jessica Wise and Ashleigh Honaker 6-1, 6-4.
The Red Hawks experienced a little more success in singles competition.
Number four player Wagner won her match over Illinois College's
Michelle Koretke, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. Wagner would then go on to lose
in the next round, 0-6, 2-6 to Lake Forest's Kendal Wapotish. One
highlight of the weekend for the Red Hawks came in number six singles
as Kate Dricken made it all the way to the championship of the
consolation bracket, only to lose 10-3 to Lake Forest's Anna Mahar.
